Shepherds of Independence provides…
Founded in 2001, Shepherds of Independence provides permanent supportive housing in Grand Rapids, Michigan for 48 mentally and/or physically disabled adults who have become homeless or are at risk of becoming homeless.
We take in individuals directly from the the streets, emergency rooms and shelters upon referrals and also from other agencies that have closed their doors.

Experience the joy of helping…
We have many needs for volunteer help, from resident visitors to act as companions for our residents, to housing facility maintenance, to food pick-up and delivery from local businesses to our facilities to insure that our residents are fed. There’s nothing like the feeling of helping someone in need.
